The future of Europe

The Republic is located in the eastern half of the Balkan Peninsula in southeast Europe. Bulgaria is bordered in the North by the Danube and in the East by the Black Sea. One sixth of the approximately 7.7 million population lives in the capital Sofia. The country has a long history: the first kingdom was founded in 632 and lasted over 700 years. Folklore plays a special role in Bulgarian cultural history. Not only did it help to preserve the national identity during the Ottoman-Turkish rule but it has also furthered art and literature. To this day, Bulgaria is known for its tradition of choral singing and is considered an important centre for puppetry, with productions for both children and adults.

Description
The photo was taken in Madara (Bulgarien), Bulgaria.
