City and nature

A gnarled tree, a shimmering sea, a mountain range bathed in the soft evening light. Or: a quiet road, a lively square, a stunning city skyline. Do you know places that are not just a backdrop, but claim centre stage? Whoever manages to capture that special magic has good chances of winning.

The Republic of Poland, with its 38 million inhabitants, joined the European Union in 2004. The land rises from the 528 kilometer-long Baltic coast up to 2,500 metres in the Tatra Mountains. There are more than 10,000 lakes set in this densely wooded country. These forests provide a habitat for rare species such as bison, brown bear, lynx, wolf and elk. Polish culture is very diverse: traditional customs and local cuisine are preserved and maintained, particularly in rural areas.
