Krajina na juhovýchode Európy je domovom 21,5 miliónov obyvateľov, pričom jeden z desiatich žije v hlavnom meste Bukurešti. Rumunsko je členom Európskej únie od roku 2007. Rumunskou dominantou sú Karpaty, desať desať vrcholov dosahuje výšku cez 2500 metrov. Najväčšou riekou v krajine je Dunaj, ktorý cez Rumunsko preteká v dĺžke asi 1000 km a vlieva sa do Čierneho mora.
